Happy Fourth!

Hope everyone has a happy & safe holiday!
We are still debating what to do, but will probably go to First Friday.
I took some photos today of the garden. It has been awhile and it has grown lots!!
We harvested the broccoli already and now are looking forward to our first cucumbers.

The Rabbit Is Here

The rabbit has found the lettuce.
He was seen sitting right in the middle and having a nice dinner.
For some reason he doesn't like spinach!

I have been very busy in the studio and am enjoying some new designs.
I love to design, it's the fabricating and perfectionism I suffer that always keeps me trying new things.

Veggies take how long to grow??

Our garden looks small when photographed from the deck.
Each bed is 8 feet x 4 feet. I am following somewhat the square foot gardening plan.
I cheated by planting plants from local nurseries, including 18 corn plants!
I think I might have to put up a rabbit fence because last night one chewed the twine
on one row and one bean vine.

Spring Is Here!

I just love Spring time. It is my favorite season. Trees getting leaves, flowers blooming, birds matting!
We have two doves that sit on the back deck and coo and groom and prance around. I haven't found where their nest is if they have one yet but I just love watching them sit side by side all lovey dovey! I've got the gardeners itch. I get it every year. I cannot wait to plant and get my hands dirty.One of our local greenhouses is my first stop to whet my appetite. It is the most glorious greenhouse on earth I think. I took their first ever workshop today on building a fairy garden. There were probably 20 other ladies and every garden was different. I just kick myself for not taking the camera!
Here is mine. Now I need a tiny fairy to hide in it.

Saying goodbye to my plants

Today is a gorgeous day here in Kansas and I stepped out to admire my plants who are giving off a last hurrah before old man winter stakes claim on them.

Deck Design & Gardening

Long time no post, I know, I know!!
Life has been busy this summer. Hubby who is never home was actually home for over 2 months.
Even though I love him very much, having a teenager and a husband within a few feet of you
for 24 hours a day, seven days a week for weeks on end makes one realize how constraining relationships can be.
We did lots of home projects thank goodness and here are some photos of the biggest one we did, our deck.
We pressure washed the old stain off which was a redwood color.

We then added these cool trellis' we saw at Lowes to provide some privacy and interest.

The pagoda frame is phase one of the deck improvements. Next year we will add boards across the top to give a bit more shade.

We also stained it a nice greenish grey color instead of the redwood color. It now matches our house and blends in nicely with nature!
